It’s been unavailable to see for a while now, but at one time there was a wonderfully historic collection of jazz archives housed at the Old U.S. Mint. The collection has been in storage since Hurricane Katrina, and is planned to be the linchpin of a planned music museum at the Mint, which is a Louisiana State Museum.
Friends of the Cabildo will sponsor Hidden Treasures: Jazz Edition tours at the Old U.S. Mint October 14 and 16 at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Hosted by Louisiana State Museum Director of Collections Greg Lambousy, guests will be given unparalleled access to a collection that dates to the late 19th century to the present day.
