As promised, on what would have been her 28th birthday, Amy Winehouse's duet with Tony Bennett (off his upcoming Duets II) debuted on BBC Radio 2 this morning. The song, a cover of the jazz standard "Body and Soul," was recorded in March, and the accompanying music video uses footage from that session — it's mostly shots of Amy glancing shyly at Bennett while he reads from the lyric sheet, but in general, Amy seems present and focused on her performance.
(Certainly, her Duets II session went better than Gaga's.) The singing backs this up; "Body and Soul" isn't as energetic or emotional a song as we came to expect from Winehouse, but it does make room for Amy to show off her still-undeniable vocal chops. That "Body and Soul" was her last opportunity to do so is part of a larger tragedy, but it's at least heartening to see her back in form, as Winehouse the Musician rather than Winehouse the Tabloid Star. Her talent deserves as much. http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment/2011/09/amy_winehouse_body_and_soul.html

Winehouse among music talents gone too soon
It's a sadly familiar script in pop music, the history of which is checkered with greats and would-be greats snuffed out too early in life.

Shock! Winehouse back to her best
Just a day after being snapped looking shabby and sickly, amid suggestions of a return to drug use, the singer looked the picture of sobriety last night.
She enjoyed a meal at a branch of Italian restaurant Prezzo in Cockfosters, close to her home in the North London suburb of Barnet.
Amy, 25, only recently returned from an eight-month stay on the Caribbean island of St Lucia.

Winehouse to reconcile with Fielder-Civil?
Amy Winehouse has begged her ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil to take her back following their divorce last month.
The pair, who wed in Miami, Florida in 2007 after a whirlwind romance, separated earlier this year with Fielder-Civil citing adultery as the reason for the split. Winehouse later admitted the infidelity in court papers. Just days after the divorce was finalized Fielder-Civil sold intimate details about their marriage to a British tabloid.
But the Back To Black hitmaker is willing to forgive his betrayal, reportedly begging Fielder-Civil for a reconciliation.
Fielder-Civil is keen to make a fresh start with his ex-wife, who recently spent eight months in the Caribbean to battle her drinking and drug habits - and the pair has even arranged a secret dinner date for when he leaves his rehabilitation treatment later this year.
He tells Britain's News Of The World, "We've been talking for the first time in months. I love her as much as ever. I know she still loves me, even though we're getting divorced. Maybe this time we can do everything properly and not mess it up.
"She is looking beautiful and healthy now and it reminds me of the old Amy. She has been wearing my engagement ring and it meant an awful lot."
Fielder-Civil is spending time in rehab to treat his own substance abuse problems after allegedly breaching his parole terms by failing a court-ordered drug test.
He was sentenced to a 27-month stint in jail last July after he was found guilty of grievous bodily harm and perverting the course of justice, in relation to a 2007 assault on a pub landlord. He was released in February.

Winehouse turns to 13-year-old for help
British singer Amy Winehouse relies on the advice of her 13-year-old goddaughter to help her through her problems.
The troubled Rehab hitmaker has struggled with a divorce and a well-publicized battle with alcohol and drug addiction in recent years.
But the only person the 25-year-old feels she can trust is her teenage goddaughter Dionne Bromfield, who she classes as her best friend and has signed to her new record company.
The star says, "All the time I'll come to her and say, 'Dionne, I don't know what to do about this.' She'll say something that makes complete sense. Me and Dionne are best friends. We're not just godmother and daughter, we're best friends. All I do with Dionne is play guitar with her and sing with her. And kiss her and cuddle her."
And Winehouse admits that she and Dionne have so much fun together, they find it difficult to do any work: "I went into business about seven years ago when I first signed my publishing deal. But I'm not good with that side of things, I'm good at the creativeness. The record company director is me. But all me and Dionne do is creative (activities), we're not good at dealing with business. That's not us. That's bulls***."

Amy Winehouse Acquitted of Assault....
Compiled by DAVE ITZKOFF
Published: July 24, 2009
Doubly good news for the singer Amy Winehouse: The Associated Press reported that on Friday in a London court she was acquitted of charges that she assaulted a fan who wanted to be in a photograph with her. Sherene Flash, a dancer, has said that Ms. Winehouse hit her in the eye at a charity ball in Berkeley Square on Sept. 26 when she asked to take a picture of Ms. Winehouse. But Timothy Workman, a district judge, ruled in favor of Ms. Winehouse, who testified Thursday that she had been startled when Ms. Flash stood next to her to pose for a picture that was being taken by a friend. Reuters also reported that Ms. Winehouse is among the artists whose music appears on the iPod of Prime Minister Gordon Brown. His playlist also includes the Beatles, U2, Bach and Beethoven.

WINEHOUSE Admitted to Hospital

Troubled singer AMY WINEHOUSE has been admitted to hospital after collapsing in the Caribbean.
The Back to Black hitmaker was taken to a medical facility on the island of St. Lucia on Friday (13Feb09) night after suddenly falling ill.
A representative for the star claims she collapsed after running out of medication she had been using in her ongoing battle against drugs.
Winehouse has been enjoying a sunshine break in the resort since December (08) following numerous health problems throughout 2008, which included a stint in rehab and several prolonged stays in hospital.
She flew out to the island in December (08) following a stint in a London medical facility after reportedly suffering an adverse reaction to prescription medication.
Winehouse's spokesperson confirmed she is recovering well and is expected to be released from hospital shortly.

Winehouse's London home robbed....

Getty Images
Burglars broke into the home of troubled British singer Amy Winehouse while she was on holiday in the Caribbean, police said.
According to Winehouse's spokesman, guitars and recording equipment were stolen from the address in Camden, north London.
He said Winehouse was "disappointed" by the loss but "relieved" that she had taken her favourite guitar with her on holiday in St Lucia.
Police called to the address following reports of two men forcing their way into the property in the early hours of Thursday (local time) found the front door had been kicked in and property taken.
A spokesman for London's Metropolitan Police said that "a number" of the stolen items had been recovered.
"The premises were secured and are now being forensically examined. The property was unoccupied," he said.
The home of the 25-year-old Back To Black singer is often surrounded by photographers hoping for pictures of her wild lifestyle.
Winehouse has allegedly struggled with a drug habit, but is said to be trying to clean up her act.

Amy Winehouse's Husband to Divorce Her Over Adultery

By Simon Perry
The jailed husband of singer Amy Winehouse has started divorce proceedings against her, PEOPLE has confirmed.
Blake Fielder-Civil has instructed a lawyer to file papers. "I can confirm that I have been instructed to commence divorce proceedings on the grounds of Amy's adultery," Henri Brandman told PEOPLE, confirming a statement he made to a Sunday tabloid in the U.K.
And Fielder-Civil's mother Georgette adds that it was she who contacted Brandman on her son's behalf last week. She says, "I am just so relieved it's going to be all over."
The couple have been through many ups and downs and it is the second time in six weeks that Fielder-Civil or those close to him have spoken about a split.

Amy Winehouse....

Upcoming actor Josh Bowman has denied reports that he's romancing Amy Winehouse, despite the pair being photographed canoodling together on a beach in St Lucia yesterday (January 6). Bowman, whose family had allegedly been concerned about the reports, told a close friend that Winehouse was "sweet - but just not my kind of girl" (The Sun).
