Red Pellini....

Letter from Red Pellini to me

Hi Claudio!
Thank you very much!!!!
my career? mmm
my way is to forgrt the past,..
anyway i studied jazz with the famous clarinet player Tony Scott.
he gave me the imprinting.
i play baritone, but my favourite musicians are not bariton players.
my idea come from a fusion beetwin Bix Beiderbecke,Lester Young,Tony Scott and Pee Wee Russel.
for many years i played and arranged the music and the atmosphere of Bix Beiderbecke, i was crazy for Bix,also i played in the soundtrack of the "BIX" movie with Bob Wilber and Kenny Davern
then many jazz festivals, some cd's.
my dream is to keep alive the great swing of 1920-40.
i think and i'm sure this is the TRUE jazz.
if no swing....no jazz.

Red Pellini expressed himself mostly through the arrangements....

After the release of various CDs with numerous orchestras (Ghosts of the twentes, Red Pellini Gang etc.) in which Red Pellini expressed himself mostly through the arrangements and the reinterpretation of Bix Beiderbecke's jazz repertoire, on the occasion of his relocation to Japan, Red has decided to realize a solo project dedicated to his unique way of playing the baritone sax.
A very different style from the traditional way of playing this instrument. Pellini , in fact, through the years has been trying to achieve a volume and attack of sound which resembles a trumpet and this made him a very popular and recognizable figure in the italian jazz scene . In the album "Roma-Tokyo" Red Pellini is accompanied by Giorgio Cuscito and Adriano Urso on piano, Guido Giacomini on double-bass and Alfredo Romeo on drums.
