3 Sails JAZZ Festival

The festival will take place on the OCC campus in Toms River, NJ, and will begin with master classes for interested musicians and residents and a music concert starting on Friday afternoon going into the evening. The festival will continue with all day activities on Saturday, including performances by well-known world renowned musicians who will draw audiences from all over the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond.

The featured artists reflect different styles of jazz: classic, smooth, Latin, big band, funk, and contemporary.
  • Paquito D’Rivera  featuring Bernie Williams - Cuban born Latin Jazz legend Paquito D’Rivera is the winner of 14 Grammy Awards. Bernie Williams discovered his love for baseball and music at roughly the same time, when at the age of eight he fell in love with the sounds of a flamenco guitar his merchant-marine father brought home from Spain, and also felt the same exhilaration when he first picked up a baseball bat. 
  • Ellis and Delfeayo Marsalis - Father and son duo known for traditional New Orleans Jazz
  • T.S. Monk - Chairman of the Thelonius Monk Institute
  • Lavay Smith and her Red Hot Skillet Lickers - San Francisco based jazz band
  • Bernard Purdie featuring Frankie Cicala - Legendary American drummer who has recorded with Aretha Franklin, Steely Dan and others; scheduled master class instructor in drumming
  • Don Braden - NJ based saxophonist and staff leader of the Jazz program at Harvard University
  • Tuffus Zimbabwe Quartet - Keyboardist for Saturday Night Live House Band
  • DYAD - Jazz duo honored as one of the top 50 jazz recording artists
  • Blue Plate Special - Local folk band with following in Northern New Jersey
  • United States Navy Band Commodores
