It will be a jazz lovers’ paradise on The Pantiles in Tunbridge Wells when the bandstand is taken over by acts during the bank holiday weekend.
The free Music on the Tiles will start at 1.30pm and end at 9.30pm next Saturday, Sunday and Monday featuring three performances each day.
It is the culmination and “a celebration” of the Jazz on the Pantiles summer season which sees free jazz played on the bandstand every Thursday.
Music on the Tiles will feature all types of jazz, from funk and blues to Latin and lounge.
Although the event is free, each festival goer is asked to give a £2 donation in the passing buckets to help towards the nearly £9,000 cost of laying it on which is borne by the Pantiles traders and restaurateurs.
The driving force behind the three-day event is Julian Leefe-Griffiths, owner of The Tunbridge Wells Hotel.
He told the Courier: “We held it last year and it went really well and it got about 2,500 to 3,000 people a day and it was a really nice celebration of the end of the summer and a continuance of the really successful Thursday nights of jazz which have contributed to the further regeneration of The Pantiles.”
