Band serves up zesty brand of jazz

by From staff reports of Charleston Daily Mail
The Community Music Association's latest offering in its concert series is a taste of Dixieland.
The Southern Fried Jazz Band performs 3 p.m. Sunday at the Municipal Auditorium. The band's show demonstrates the evolution of early jazz in America from the cotton fields of
Louisiana, up the Mississippi River and into jazz clubs of Chicago.

Members of the band are seasoned professionals who have played from Las Vegas to Mississippi riverboats.

The show is being offered with a special dinner package at nearby Fifth Quarter Restaurant, which will offer its Cajun platter for $8.99 to those who present show ticket stubs. The dinner normally is $12.99 and includes Cajun-style shrimp, crab cakes, red beans and rice, Cajun cabbage and cornbread.

Individual tickets to the show, available at the door, are $35 for adults, $10 for full-time college students and $5 for youth 18 and under.
