It's always fun when Barbara meets the duo Ignaz Netzer & Thomas Scheytt
Double Duo
It's always fun when Barbara meets the duo Ignaz Netzer & Thomas Scheytt, formerly known as the Blues and Boogie Duo. Barbara reported: "Thomas and I made it impossible for Ignaz to continue singing because he had to laugh so much... We had so much fun!"
The audience was enthusiastic too and after all not yet satisfied with two encores. They wanted more... The newspapers wrote: "Ten fingers, two feet, one instrument: this is all what Barbara Dennerlein needs to amaze in a concert hall. Her hands are flying over the organ's keyboards while her feet play the bass-lines on the pedals.
Dennerlein and her organ - this is a relationship like an old married couple, filled with endless love. ... This is not only an experience for the musicians on stage but also for the audience of jazz blues and boogie fans who listen to the icon of the German jazz scene while she performs magic with the organ keys. Announced by Ignaz Netzer as 'a woman with charm, heart and soul' she showed the whole variety of her repertoire.
A groovy blues, some jazz with Latin touch,... Dennerlein played geniously with harmonies and dissonances, improvised while changing sounds and interspersing Leslie effects. But the performance was absolutely highlighted by the jazz organist's pedal play of precisely played impressive bass lines. No wonder that the audience's finale elation climbed into euphoric range."
The newspaper's website provides also a reportage video clip and a photo gallery: http://www.westfaelische-nachrichten.de/lokales/kreis_steinfurt/greven/1453966_Eine_Frau_zwei_Fuesse_ein_Instrument.html
Duo Hammond concert in Würzburg
"Barbara Dennerlein has brought the organ back to jazz" - this was the headline by the local press after Barbara's duo concert with the New Yorker drummer Drori Mondlak . "The two virtuos musicians filled the space with complex sound creations that nevertheless followed catchy rhythms. Driven by an overwhelming but accentuated and varying groove from the bass pedals Barbara Dennerlein combined elements of Blues, Boogie, Jazz and Rock and abducted the audience into the "Dennerlein Cosmos". This cosmos is sometimes lyrically and poetic, then changes from blues to rock and breathes dynamic interchanges between harmonic melodies and expressive and stormy sound clusters...
Drori Mondlak perfectly joined in to perform the music after Dennerlein's credo 'dedication and enthusiasm'. His remarkably melodic style never pushed forward but followed the dynamics of the organ even in smallest nuances and grounded Dennerlein's sound spaces with casual perfection."

The Bebab Records Story
Since 25 Years Barbara has established her own label "Bebab Records". In 1985, Barbara wanted to release her first own record after she has had the opportunity to produce two records for the Boehm organ company in the years before. Just 21 years young, she was looking for a reseller who would guarantee the needed purchase quantity to finance the production. After she had convinced an independent record store chain in Germany to join the production could start with her Father's help. Everyone who owns a copy of "Bebab" can be sure to have a remarkable live recording from Munich's Allotria Jazz Club.
To make it short, Barbara and the record store made a big deal, the record was honored with the "Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik", the German Records Critics Award. This is exceptional for a debut record - as exceptional as Barbara's career that has been pushed by this great success.

Interview in Italy
On occasion of her last tour through Italy Barbara has been interviewed (in English) for the jazzconvention.net website. Barbara talks about her career and explains the differences between playing Hammond and pipe organs amongst other things.
The audio file lasts about 18 minutes and is right now online: http://www.jazzconvention.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=675:intervista-a-barbara-dennerlein&catid=7:realinterviews&Itemid=15
Information in Spanish
We eventually found a website where some information about Barbara has been translated into Spanish. We are happy about that and would like to thank Yasmiin for her work.
May this be an inspiration for others to do something similar: http://www.friki.net/videos/58256-barbara-dennerlein.html
Concerts in December
As we already have announced in the last newsletter Barbara and her trio will perform in Lucerne on December 2nd. The Culture and Congress Center next to Lake Lucerne is an (architectural) highlight by itself, and the concert with Peter Lehel (sax) and Marcel Gustke (drums) shall be another highlight, too. It is same line-up as on Barbara's actual CD "Bebabaloo" (this is a tip for autograph collectors).
On December 16th, Barbara plays two concerts (5 p.m. and 8 p.m.) in Gröbenzell near Munich. The exceptional Office Center "Stockwerk" is a regular venue of performances of arts. But as if that's not astonishing enough, the lobby provides a pipe organ that has been taken from a collapse endangered church and specially re-designed for this hall.
You will find the complete tour list below.
In January the concert series continue in Luxembourg and Germany. Until then Barbara Dennerlein and the Bebab Team would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
And if you should be already looking for Christmas presents, we would recommend...http://www.barbaradennerlein.com/en/bebabrecords/
