Letter from Kat Parra

It’s finally here! My new CD, Songbook of the Américas, has just arrived and I can’t wait to share it with the world! This new project pays tribute to women composers across the Americas, but of course, with new twists and turns that me and my band like to take to create a fresh and unique sound to tried and true gems. I am also blessed to be able to share this CD with some of the top musicians of the SF Bay Area, as well as wonderful guest vocalists/musicians: Tuck & Patti, María Márquez and Nate Pruitt.

The first CD release concert will be taking place on April 1st at Cafe Pink House in Saratoga. If you have never been to this lovely new venue, then you are missing out. Matt Toshiba and Yoshiko Oda have created one of the nicest listening rooms in the Bay Area. I feel very honored and blessed to be able to perform in such an intimate spot, my favorite type of venue. At this concert I will be joined by Murray Low: piano (and co-producer of the CD), Masaru Koga: woodwinds, Aaron Germain: bass and Colin Douglas: drums. The CD will be available for sale for the first time at this event.

If you’d like to hear more about the concert, you can listen in to a conversation I’ll be having with Afrikahn Jahmal Dayvs on KKUP FM 91.5 at 4pm on Tuesday, March 29.

Tickets can be purchased at: http://cafepinkhouse.com/#eventlist or you can contact them by email: events@cafepinkhouse.com
or Phone: (408) 647-2273. My suggestion is to either email or buy the tix online.
The venue only holds 65-70 people and I am certain the concert will sell out, so get your tickets as soon as you can!

If you can’t make the Cafe Pink House concert, I hope you’ll be able to come to another CD release concert at The Sound Room in Oakland on April 30th. I am so excited to perform in this lovely space for the first time. And the timing couldn’t be better as the CD officially releases on April 29th!

I’ll be in touch with more details about the Sound Room as the time draws nearer and also how you can purchase the new CD when it becomes available online, if you would like a copy. But my suggestion is to come to one of the concerts so you can be one of the first people to get the CD. AND I and the band will personally sign your copy. :)
I hope to see you soon at one of these special concerts!

Love Kat
