I had an opportunity to see Andrea Martin in Pippin a few weeks ago on Broadway. She stole the show, and that's saying something, considering Pippin is a play wrapped in a jaw-dropping circus performance. Everyone on stage blows your mind. I interview Andrea for tomorrow's Review section of The Wall Street Journal (go here). Her favorite song is Little Anthony and the Imperials' Tears on My Pillow, but you'll never guess why. A very funny story. Andrea is an absolute gem. She's funny, sweet and insanely talented. Here's a montage of her funniest TV moments. And if you're in L.A. now, go see her in Pippin. Her new memoir is Lady Parts.
A couple of weeks ago I interviewed Leon Panetta, the former Defense Secretary and CIA Director, about growing up in California as the son of Italian immigrants. You'll find our chat in today's Mansion section of The Wall Street Journal (or go here). Chatting with Secretary Panetta was special. Regardless of your favorite political party, Secretary Panetta exudes a warmth and strength that's rare among political leaders today. There's a certain wisdom and conviction about his articulation, and his laugh, which comes often to lighten the load, is as inviting as a leather easy chair. The Secretary's new book is Worthy Fights.
