Tárkány Művek - 'You Etched Your Face in Mine'

Wednesday 3 September 2014 11:05PM
Tárkány Művek are a young Budapest band led by their virtuosic Cimbalom player, Bálint Tárkány Kovács, who aim to combine Hungarian folk music with jazz and do so very well, especially on a version of John Coltrane's Lonnie's Lament.

Julianna Paár sings these songs which range from folk to Broadway standards, Gergő Kováts plays reed instruments with a foot in both experimental jazz and Eastern European schools and Endre Papp and András Bognár play viola and bass and their Hungarian folk equivalents. Together, they create a true mixture of jazz and folk, unusually leaning a bit to the folk side. This show was first broadcast on 25-06-13.
