The Jazz Drama Program

Thank You from
The Jazz Drama Program

Nora's Ark at Jazz House Kids               Message From Saturn Singers                      Nora's Ark premiere in Poland

Greetings!

I am writing this on my way to the final rehearsal for young vocalists recording our new musical Message From Saturn, about the healing power of the blues. The recording involves 10 students from 7 different schools. The students have been practicing weekly for two and half months with myself and guest teachers, Jeanie LoVetri, Michael Lofton, Charenee Wade and Nicole Zuraitis. Some students have recorded before. For others this experience is completely new and we'll share their experiences in the studio with you due to the generosity of filmmaker Phil Bertelson (HBO, PBS) and his all volunteer crew who are filming the session.

This is the third musical The Jazz Drama Program has recorded at the world famous Avatar Studios in Manhattan. Once again, Avatar is generously donating studio time to help get children involved in jazz and invest in the future of the art form. We are so grateful for their support.

In other news this spring, Nora's Ark, the jazz musical sailed into Bialystok in its Polish premiere, as well as a three weekend run at the Helen Hocker Theatre in Topeka, Kansas. In Southern Idaho, auditions have just been held at the Boys and Girls Club for Holding the Torch For Liberty, about the culmination of the women's suffrage movement, to be presented Sun Valley Jazz Jamboree in October.

None of this could be possible without your support. Can you please help us once again to bring jazz to thousands of young people and give them transformational experiences that will last a lifetime? Every dollar you donate helps jazz arts make a better world.

Thanks so much for your support!
Sincerely,

Eli Yamin, Artistic Director
