Barbara Dennerlein is working on a new project, the "Blues 'n Latin Jazz Project" with guitarist Hernan Romero and drummer and percussionist Rodrigo Rodriguez. With this project she combines several musical styles of jazz to a new exciting sound.
Argentine Romero came to New York in 1986 and soon met with superior artists as Al Di Meola, Paco de Lucia and John McLaughlin. He prefers the acoustic guitar and is stylistically oriented on Flamenco and Latin as well as classical guitar music and Middle East sounds. From time to time he adds his vocals to his sensuous, passionate, romantic play. He works with Al Di Meola since the 1990's, on tour and on several albums. He records for his own projects, too, e.g. at Wall Street Trinity Church in New York, where Barbara Dennerlein also gave a concert in 2008 on the virtual pipe organ.

Drummer and percussionist Rodrigo Rodriguez (not to be mixed up with the argentine guitarist of the same name), was born in Cartagena/Colombia in 1974 where he was surrounded by Afro-Colombian music. After his education and studies he first played in Colombian bands and orchestras until he moved to Switzerland and began to play Latin jazz and funk with Tony Martinez and The Cuban Power. Touring with Alfredo de la Fe led him around the world. Up to now he worked together e.g. with Celia Cruz, Eddie Palmieri, Tito Nieves and Chico Freeman (with whom he performed at the Düren Jazz Days Festival in Germany last year) and shared stage with artists like George Benson or Carlos Santana.
In combination with Barbara's inimitable style and sound of her Hammond B3, the result is a fascinating musical interaction with a lot of South-American temperament and energy, but also with romantic, soulful melodies, bluesy sounds and manifold rhythms. It's another exciting project for Barbara Dennerlein who again traces new grounds in jazz.
Two concerts of that trio are confirmed yet: on May 16 in Vicenza, Italy, at the Jazz Festival Teatro Olimpico, and on June 14 at the Israel Festival in Jerusalem, Israel, at the Jerusalem Theatre.
