Natixis Global Asset Management Announces Scholarship Award for High-School Student to Attend Berklee’s Five-Week Summer Performance Program.

Natixis Global Asset Management (NGAM), one of the world’s leading asset managers, and Berklee College of Music announced today that Readville resident Samuel Joseph will receive this year’s $5,000 Natixis-Berklee City Music Scholarship Award on Saturday, September 28 during the Berklee BeanTown Jazz Festival. The scholarship will cover the cost to attend Berklee’s Five-Week Summer Performance Program.

As part of NGAM’s broad efforts to expose students to the benefits of music, the firm has engaged in multi-year sponsorship agreements with Berklee College of Music for their Summer in the City Concert Series and BeanTown Jazz Festival, and with the Newport Festivals Foundation for the world-renowned Newport Jazz Festival. The firm also expanded its music scholarship program this year to include three $5,000 scholarships for talented high school students to further their musical and college pursuits. Two scholarships were awarded at the Newport Jazz Festival last month to selected student musicians from the Rhode Island Music Educators Association Jazz Band and the Massachusetts Music Educators Association All-State Jazz Band.

“This year’s theme at BeanTown – Jazz: The Next Generation – ties in nicely with the Natixis-Berklee City Music Scholarship,” Hailer added. “Samuel is a smart, wonderfully determined young person who is committed to his music and this scholarship will help achieve his dreams of a music education.”

The Berklee BeanTown Jazz Festival – Boston’s biggest block party – takes place on Saturday, September 28, from noon to 6 p.m. on Columbus Avenue between Massachusetts Avenue and Burke Street in Boston’s South End. The outdoor performances are open to the public free of charge. Highlights include Meshell Ndegeocello; Will Calhoun Trio, led by the Grammy Award-winning alumnus and drummer of the band Living Colour; and Robin McKelle & the Flytones.
