Jazz at Lincoln Center's The Allen Room
October 3 & 4 at 7pm

New York, NY, September 17, 2013 -  Jazz impresario and pianist George Wein, affectionately referred to as "The Father of Jazz Festivals" after creating the Newport Jazz Festival in 1954, celebrates his 88th birthday by performing with his Newport All-Stars in Jazz at Lincoln Center's The Allen Room on October 3 & 4 at 7pm. Joining Wein for these special concert events are tenor saxophonist Lew Tabackin, trumpeter Randy Brecker, clarinetist and saxophonist Anat Cohen, guitarist Howard Alden, bassist Peter Washington, and drum mer Lewis Nash. New York Times jazz journalist (and Wein's biographer) Nate Chinen hosts the events. Wein will swing firmly in the here-and-now, and retrospect on his life and times with stories and photos from his personal collection.

"Jazz is life!" says Wein. "Jazz has been my entire life. It means everything. I learned so much from jazz that it's affected me from that day right up until today -  that's a long time to be influenced by a great music."

George Wein: The Life of a Legend will stream live on October 3 & 4 at 7pm ET on jalc.org/live.
