Novato native Carl Oser, a magna cum laude graduate of University of Southern California, performs and teaches in Marin County, plays jazz and classical piano, arranges music and teaches youth master classes.
He has directed elementary school choirs, designed outreach musical programs, taught voice and jazz history in Ecuador and written a musical score for a Los Angeles high school. He is interested in mastering the jazz idiom with the aim of teaching advanced students. Oser will apply his scholarship to voice lessons. He is the winner of the Carol Randall Award for Jazz or Musical Comedy.
