A Binghamton High School student is receiving some help to attend a prestigious music camp this Summer.
Merlin Joseph Junior won the Stanley Kay Scholarship which covers a two week visit to the New York State Music Festival at SUNY Oneonta. Joseph is a junior at Binghamton, and performs with five of the school's bands including the pep band, the jazz ensemble and the steel drum band. He also plays drums at his church. Joseph started early, banging on his Little Tike drum at age two and getting his first drum set when he was four. He says he practices six or seven days a week.
