Steve Slagle's New York-based....

Steve Slagle's New York-based contemporary jazz is referred to as "music to bright up your life and make your ears feel good, your toes tap, and your big toe stick up in your boots." So true! The nine tracks range from about 3 to 8 minutes in length.... Plenty of time to bring out the evocative emotion and poignant intensity in pieces like "Mingus in Us" and "Blues Four" and "Equal Nox" (the longest track on the project at 8:30). Listen to their beautiful expression in the shortest track, "The Star-Crossed Lovers" which closes out the beautiful jazz journey. Besides Slagle's saxophone, the rest of the consummate musicians are first-rate: Dave Stryker (guitar), Ed Howard (bass), Mclenty Hunter (drums, cymbals). The album's cover painting 'Evensong' is by Ivan Pazlamatchev. It visually captures the same inspiration that Slagle and Company's music conveys.
