Jazzoo event combines food, tunes and fun

Food, drink and loads of jazz are in store for Jazzoo, scheduled from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at Brevard Zoo, 8225 N. Wickham Road, Melbourne.

The music is cool and the food and drink tantalizing during this epicurean extravaganza.

Three different musical venues comprise the event. At the Meerkat Lounge in the Nyami Nyami River Lodge, Slim Man will be the main man. The Brevard Music Group is responsible for snagging the performer, whose style has been described by Rolling Stone as “a near-perfect example of how jazz and soul can be combined as pop.”

Listen to the Slim Man and enjoy wine tastings from Crispy’s Beer and Wine Bar and specialty drinks by Cosmic Coffee.

At the Paws On area, the music turns to surf rock, courtesy of the Danny Morris Band. The Flamingo Café will transform into a biergarten hosted by World of Beer as Rod MacDonald & the Rovers provide the sounds. Accomplished guitarist/songwriter Morris toured with the Washington blues band, the Nighthawks and has shared the stage with B.B. King, Jerry Lee Lewis, Mick Fleetwood, Bill Kirchen and other stars. McDonald was named one of 10 “magnificent musicians of Palm Beach County” by the Palm Beach Post.

At the zoo’s open bars, the beer will be from Florida Beer Company. Showcasing their favorite dishes will be A Taste of Thai Cuisine Restaurant, the Christian Culinarian, Continental Flambé, Creative Catering by the Farinas, Flour and Spice Boutique, Green Turtle Market, Matt’s Casbah, Merri Cakes, Nature’s Table Café — Suntree, Pita Pit, RendezVous Restaurant and Lounge, River Rocks Restaurant, The Melting Pot, The Soup Shop, TooJay’s Original Gourmet Deli, Two Chicks and a Pot, UNO Chicago Grill and Doubletree by Hilton Cocoa Beach’s 3 Wishes Restaurant.

Advance tickets are $50 for regular admission, which include unlimited food, beer and wine. You can also spring for the $75 VIP version, with its early admission, preferred parking and specialty liquors. Tickets are $10 more at the door.
