Broadway coming to Lockport High School

STAFF REPORTS

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Students in the Music Department will bring some Broadway to Lockport High School this week.
The choral program will present Broadway Cafe at 7 p.m. Thursday in the school auditorium. The 50 or so students who are in Lockport’s concert choir and vocal jazz ensemble, as well as seven individual singers, will be performing a number of Broadway songs from shows such as West Side Story, A Little Princess, Wicked and Mama Mia.
“Everything will be from Broadway,” said senior Lauren O’Brien.
Director Robert Pacillo said Thursday’s event was the first concert of the season for Lockport’s music department, as well as its first fundraiser of the year. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for students and can be purchased at the door. People can also contact Pacillo about tickets by calling 478-4451, extension 5194.
There is also a free reception afterwards. Proceeds from the ticket sales and basket raffle will go to support the concert choir’s trip to New York City, said junior Rachel Williams.
Pacillo said Broadway Cafe is an annual event. And this year’s singers, a real talented group, Pacillo said, have been working hard on their performances.
