JIMMY LA ROCCA PROMO

The first commercial Jazz band recording took place in 1917. It took the USA by storm. This was recorded by Nick La Rocca's 'Original Dixieland Jazz Band'. That same year they were the first Jazz band to appear in a feature film. In 1919 they were in the UK spreading the Jazz message.
The 'Jazz Age' had begun. Jimmy La Rocca is a fine trumpet player and the son of Nick La Rocca. In 2009 he was a guest musician at the Rimini Traditional Jazz and Swing Festival in Italy. I took the opportunity to record a video interview with him. He is a direct link with, as the advertising copy said, 'The Creators of Jazz'.
