Black Violin — Kev Marcus (left) and Wil B — is known for blending classical music with hip-hop, jazz and funk. The duo has traveled the globe as opening act for the likes of the Wu-Tang Clan and Akon. For their stint at the Carver Community Cultural Center, they'll have their very own opening act. Before they take the stage, members of the Youth Orchestras of San Antonio (YOSA) will play a 30-minute set of groove-oriented music and hip-hop under the direction of Jonathan Raveneau.
Fine print: 8 p.m. Friday, Jo Long Theatre, Carver Community Cultural Center, 226 N. Hackberry St. $21, Carver box office and Ticketmaster outlets. 210-207-7211; thecarver.org.
