"Ivan Bodley: producer arranger, and bassist. I'm happy to inform you the record is at least twice as interesting as the accompanying story." - Jazziz

Critically acclaimed music director, producer, arranger and one of the most sought-after bassists for hire, Ivan “Funkboy” Bodley, delivers a unique blend of jazz-soul and jamband influences on "Look at that Cookie". Bodley has built an impressive resume that includes collaborations and performances with some of the most influential and respected artists in the world such as Elvis Costello, Sting, The Temptations, and Peter Wolf, and is musical director for Sam Moore, Martha Reeves & the Vandellas, The Shirelles, The Crystals, and The Tokens. Some of Bodley’s notable television appearances include Late Night with Conan O Brien, The Today Show, and the Kennedy Center Honors. Ivan is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the Berklee College of Music and to date he has traveled to 26 countries and played to audiences of up to 30,000 people in performance settings ranging from jazz duos to 150-member symphony orchestras.
"Look at that Cookie" is filled with a wide range of influences including jazz, funk, and lounge. The infectious title track “Look at that Cookie” is upbeat and funk-infused, while “One Note Disco” will lose you in the bouncy jam session. The trio demonstrates versatility with the somber “A Lot to Learn,” a string-filled jazzy number that feels like the soundtrack to a daydream. Tracks like the quirky jam “You Don't Say” will have listeners thinking of Phish, and the bouncy “Hate Monkey” allows keyboardist Jim Dowen to shine as it erupts into a raucous jam session. Bodley tempts us to the dance floor with a disco flare on “She Wolf” and invites us on a psychedelic trip during “Consideration.” Look at that Cookie is a dynamic and exciting album with twists, turns, and surprises on each track. Its vast collection of influences will broaden its appeal to jazz, funk, alt-pop, and jam fans alike.
Bodley’s trio consists of an all-star cast, including drummer Joe Goretti (Moby, Ne-Yo), and keyboardist Jim Dower (Sam Moore, Savage Garden). With Jim Dower on keyboards and Joe Goretti on drums, Ivan & company travel the world together backing Sam Moore, The Temptations, Martha Reeves and other royalty of soul music. On days off back in New York City, the trio creates a type of instrumental groove music that might result if The Meters joined Lou Donaldson and Ramsey Lewis for a jam session. Look at that Cookie was recorded, mixed and mastered by drummer and fellow bandmate Joe Goretti at his recording studio, The Joint, in Queens, New York. Ivan Bodley produced, arranged and wrote the album. In Ivan’s own words, “I generally hope to convey joy through body movement, even just toe-tapping or head bobbing. Life is such a struggle as it is. I seek to create an emotional outlet for life's frustrations through music.” Look at that Cookie certainly hits the mark.
