It’s time again for an ear treat of sultry vocals, elaborate progressions of trumpets and saxophone as Penang invites jazz to their island. Similar to a typical music festival, audiences will be surrounded by more than one stage. The main stages of the 8th Penang Jazz Festival are the “Jazz By The Beach” stage and the “Fringe” stage.

The annual festival just gets even more bigger and better this 2011. Headlines include the Norwegian vocalist Eva Bjerga Haugen, Ji Young Lee, a former pianist for the renown jazz trumpet player Maynard Ferguson, a dutch grammy award winner Yuri Honing, Penang’s very own Fred Cheah and The Jazz Hats, the alternative rock and jazz hybrid Rusconi, grammy nominated ACT-recording artist Ulf Wakenius and the reputable Shakatak.

Backing up the main highlights at the Fringe stage are the upcoming jazz favorites, such as the Bihzhu, Asmidar, Liyana Fizi, De Leon Jazz Experience, Andy Siti Quartet, Cats In Love, Elixir , The Az Samad Duo, Aqasha, Primitive Leap, Azmyl Yunor, Amirah Ali, Jonathan Yee, Damien Chew and Amelia featuring Fiona Ong.
