One Jazz night - Two concerts

The Jazz Festival in Viersen celebrates its 25th. anniversary. At the opening night Barbara Dennerlein gave two concerts together with her duo partner Fabiano Pereira (Guitar) at the Cross Church. The organist played both the church organ and her Hammond B3. The audience was elated by the music played in this rare and unusual line-up.

The press reported: "Barbara Dennerlein's appearance was deeply emotional. The Munich-based organist performed at her own Hammond B3 at the Cross Church and was accompanied by guitarist Fabiano Pereira. Latin and Swing trailed away in the pointed arches. The duo acted in a manner of unity, for instance whenever Pereira's voice introduced a soft second theme and the melodies melted into a harmonic melange. These impressions were accentuated by a carefully designed light show. Changing colours transmuted the church into an unreal place while the Hammond sounded in pure beauty."

"Splendid moments" entitled an other journalist his review. "Predominantly Barbara Dennerlein's own compositions were played in the impressively illuminated Evangelic Cross Church. Like two years ago the organist played two concerts, the first one at the church organ, the second at the Hammond B3. But this time she played in duo with guitarist Fabiano Pereira. He opened the second part with a quiet prelude until the Hammond organist joined in. Dennerlein and Pereira changed from the dreamy mood into to the Latin rhythms of a spirited "A Summer Day". Stylistic diversity marked a varied concert where a swinging tribute to Jimmy Smith and a slow and lyric piece "Precious Moments" followed. Two masters of their instruments had found together and were rewarded with huge applause."

Birthday Greetings

Last Sunday, at Barbara's birthday, the German radio station SR2 broadcasted it's weekly JazzNow series where the announced main theme of that edition was the rhythms from Uruguay. But first of all "Miss Hammond"'s birthday was celebrated with three of her titles which of course pleased Barbara even more, as up to now she does not have many boundary points with Uruguay. Only once a concert in Uruguay had been planned several years ago but unfortunately it was impossible to find a Hammond B3 there in acceptable condition...

The internet radio Hammond Organ Radio has lots of listeners who rate the music by wish lists, marking "I like it" or purchases through the radio website. Barbara Dennerlein's titles are in high score, so the radio station asked her for a personal station ID which she did. Books

In Germany a new book about the development of Jazz during the second half of the 20th century in this country (one should say: in Western and in Eastern Germany) has been published recently. Many artists, among them of course Barbara Dennerlein, have been interviewed and so the book showcases this period from the insider's view.

Another book has been released, and this one is in English language. It represents, as it is announced by Hephaestus Books, "a new publishing paradigm, allowing disparate content sources to be curated into cohesive, relevant, and informative books. To date, this content has been curated from Wikipedia articles and images under Creative Commons licensing, although as Hephaestus Books continues to increase in scope and dimension, more licensed and public domain content is being added.
