Sade has been unfairly co-opted by smooth jazz radio stations across the country; her fusion of jazz and world music is a far cry from the work of Kenny G. With the same pure-silk voice, she can put an ungrateful lover in his place, reassure someone plagued with doubt or make a hopeful plea to the heavens.
Between Sade and John Legend, Sunday night’s bill has its fill of come-hither make-out-in-the-dark music. Enjoy the sentimental binge, but brace for the hangover.
