What a return! In the 1960s, Herb Alpert swam with his band, Tijuana Brass and as a singer Lani Hall of Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66 in a remarkable wave of success. But as soon as this wave had both taken up, they washed it away again.
Already in the 70's fame had faded significantly both. Alpert shone more as a skilled manager and producer, his label A & M as a solo musician. In 1979, he taught himself with the surprise hit "Rise" again briefly recalled to return to dive for it. He continues to play an album, but left a lasting impression this little.
Even thinner was the artistic output of his wife Lani Hall, which had started after the time at Sérgio also a not so sensational solo career and in 1981 hardly appeared. Only in the late 1990s were both again really flashed their talents: Alpert with the critically acclaimed album"Passion Dance" and "Colors," Hall with her solo comeback album "Brasil Nativo"for which she won a Grammy.
2008 sparked then clearly the collaboration with Sérgio Mendes for the hit album "Encanto"), the creative flame of the two artists new (. And this time they should blaze brighter and more sustainable than in the decades before.
Alpert and Hall in 2009 took a series of concerts in their first album on: On"Anything Goes" she bribed with refreshing interpretations of jazz classics. Now she lay with "I Feel You," a studio album, but on the concept of the musical "Anything Goes" to build on and significantly expand both stylistically.
