It was just over a year ago that we first learned of “Unearthing,” an unusual collaboration between the comics author Alan Moore (“Watchmen,” “V for Vendetta”) and musicians including Mike Patton (of Faith No More), Justin Broadrick (Godflesh), Andrew Broder (Fog) and Stuart Braithwaite (Mogwai). For the multimedia work, Mr. Moore was to write and narrate a biographical story about his friend and comics collaborator Steve Moore (who is not related) while the musicians provided an ambient soundtrack.
So what exactly would that look and sound like? While Alan Moore’s projects don’t always come to fruition rapidly (as anyone still waiting the next chapter of “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen” can tell you), a short preview clip of “Unearthing” has been produced by Lex Records, in anticipation of the work’s release in August. The above segment should provide a fair introduction to the atmosphere of Mr. Moore’s prose and the cadence of his voice, as well as the intricacies of his beard.
