2005 winner of the Anheuser-Busch/Jazzmobile Jazz Vocal Competition GuavaJamm Recording Artist & jazz vocalist Lynette Washington , is a native New Yorker. Lynette was born to sing, and has had a career that has taken her across the globe, and has been gifted to sing in several international languages. Although Lynette's singing style is heavily rooted in the jazz, R&B, and gospel arenas, Lynette began her professional singing career performing in Russian nightclubs throughout New York City and Europe.

She has worked with many well-known artists such as Aretha Franklin, U2, and Peter Gabriel. she was featured lead singer in New Voices of Freedom appearing in U2's “Rattle&Hum, BBC's One World, One Voice, and Lenny Kravitz's ;Give Peace A Chance. Lynette has recorded several radio commercials and appeared in national TV commercials for Roy Rogers and Pizza Hut. In 1999, Lynette completed her first solo project entitled Long, Long Ago (A Jazz Celebration of Christmas, Chanukah and Kwanzaa) featuring Chuck Mangione's reedman Gerry Niewood and which is an iTunes Essential CD.

The CD garnered a slew of positive reviews and press. Her second solo project, Smoky Dawn was released in April 2003 also to rave reviews and iTunes features. She also joined forces with her Gold/Platinum Award winning Producer, Pianist Dennis Bell to release a double CD LIVE! from Harlem's Kennedy Center with Lynette Washington & Dennis Bell Jazz NY. Her next CD is expected to be released during the summer of 2007 featuring the great Alex Blake on Bass and the Legendary Drummer Victor Jones.
