CKUA Radio celebrates Holger Peterson’s 40th anniversary as host of the popular roots & blues radio program Natch’l Blues, with a dinner and dance on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 7:00pm at Edmonton’s Cook County Saloon. Holger and fellow CKUA luminaries will be joined by an all-star band of Joe Louis Walker with Donnie Walsh and the Excellent R&B Revue. Special musical guests joining in the celebrations include Lionel Rault, Ron Rault, Dave Babcock, Stewart MacDougall and Bill Hobson. Tickets for the event can be purchased online at http://www.ckua.com/.
Holger Peterson began working at CKUA more than four decades ago when he was still a student. In 1969 he started hosting Natch’l Blues, now the longest-running blues program in Canada (possibly in the world). As founder/owner of Canadian roots-music label, Stony Plain Records, Holger’s record producer credits include legendary artists such as Maria Muldaur, Jimmy Witherspoon, Jay McShann, Ronnie Earl, Long John Baldry, Amos Garrett, Johnny Shines, Roosevelt Sykes, Walter Horton, Jeff Healey, Duke Robillard, Rory Block, Harry Manx and Kevin Breit, and Joe Louis Walker. His work has earned 10 Juno Awards and four Grammy nominations.
