Be-bop and jazz come to Great Falls next Friday night

Be-bop and straight-ahead jazz, West Coast style, come to the First Congregational/Christ United Methodist Church next weekend.

Great Falls is located in a fortuitous spot along some touring musicians' routes. The First Congregational / Christ United Methodist Church hosts some top-notch players of be-bop and jazz on Oct. 23.
The Legends of Jazz consist of Curtis Fuller, Hadley Caliman, Jeff Chambers, Larry Vuckovich and Eddie Marshall. Fuller played as a member of be-bop pioneer Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers and with Dizzy Gillespie, Count Basie, John Coltrane and more. He is considered by critics as one of the top 10 jazz trombonists of all time.

Tenor saxophonist Caliman has earned the moniker "Little Dex." He studied with Dexter Gordon and was chosen to sit in Gordon's chair in a band with Dizzy Gillespie, Buster Williams, Wynton Marsalis and Bobby Hutcherson. Chambers is considered one of the foremost bassists in the country, and pianist Vuckovich was acknowledged as a jazz legend by the Fillmore Heritage Center in San Francisco. Drummer Eddie Marshall has performed with nearly every major jazz player in his half century of playing.
The concert is at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 23. http://www.ticketing.greatfallsmt.net/
