Singers in jazz bands can often be used to prop up a few numbers and give an easy focus for the audience, but not so with Louis Hoover – a natural, easy performer with a charm and flair that would take lesser singers years or even decades to develop, he was asked by Ronnie Scott himself to join the club’s Jazz House label to record his first, eponymous album. His familiarity with the material is such that he is regarded as one of the best performers of Sinatra’s work around, and this concert is a great opportunity to revisit the classic music of Ol’ Blues Eyes.
