The Booneville M.S. Band....

Purpose
To Educate interested students in music education.
To represent our school with pride and dignity.
To strive to achieve perfection in all we undertake.

Philosophy
The Booneville Blue Devil Band is an organization devoted to the education of all the young people it touches. Members experience more than just marching and playing, they learn about life. They experience winning and losing, fatigue and exhilaration, and growing as an individual, yet being a part of a larger whole. They learn about teamwork, and striving for excellence, about working towards goals, and going beyond their own perceived limits. The members of the BLUE
DEVIL BAND grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. The lessons and life skills they take with them continue to serve them and define their adult lives.

Performance Ensembles
There are three middle school bands; 6th Grade or Beginner Band, 7th Grade or 2nd Year Band and the 8th or 3rd Year Band. We teach primarily concert band with a brief and gradual introduction into marching. Marching is introduced in the 6th grade with our performance at "Band Night" which is the last regular scheduled home game. 7th and 8th grades are combined to become the BMS MARCHING BLUE DEVILS. Marching performances include "Band Night" and some parades and pep rallies. We give two concert performances for all grades at Christmas and in the spring. All 7th & 8th Grade students are required to participate in solo & ensemble competition. The BMS Jazz Band is open to all qualified band students in the 7th & 8th grades. The jazz band rehearses one afternoon a week and performs for school and civic functions.
