The Girl from Ipanema was in my dream....

I decided to start the New Year off with a feeling of positive outlook. I put some Stan Getz on the ipod and felt like all the things of 2008 were just a phase. The music made me smile and enjoy the new chapter we are entering. Stan Getz has a way of playing the saxaphone that is so smooth... like ice skating... 2009 will not be an easy "skate" with the way 2008 ended, it is even more imortant to get that Bossa Nova feeling.

The Girl from Ipanema came to America and saw the way we are living and decided we needed to think about each other. Think about supporting each other. The girl from Ipanema smiled at me and told me not to worry. She smiled and said the sun is rising over your troubled land. She told me to hang in there. The Girl from Ipanema said she could not stay long, but that she would be back.

The Girl from Ipanema wasn't so beautiful anymore, but she still had that inner glow that made me feel calm when I thought of how she use to look. The music still sounded sweet though. Her innocence was lost but she was still pure... just like the song with Stan playing his horn. The use to call Stan Getz "THE SOUND", SINCE HE HAD SUCH A SWEET WAY OF PLAYING HIS "AXE"...
The Girl from Ipanema was in my dream. Stan played the horn and I woke up with a smile.
Jazz music has so many different styles of playing that it is a bottomless well.
