Sound Gallery: New jazz concerts celebrate music in the making
May 22, 2015 6:00 am • MARGA LINCOLN Independent Record
A space that celebrates and encourages the sounds of jazz in the making.
That’s the idea behind Sound Gallery, which holds its debut concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 28, at 1+1=1 Gallery.
Jazz musicians love to listen to each other, said Basin trombonist and vocalist M.J. Williams. Usually they’re playing over chatter and the clink of glasses and the clatter of plates and silverware.
So it’s exciting to Williams to launch a new series of monthly intimate music concerts. For the debut, Williams will join longtime friends and fellow musicians pianist Ann Tappan and bass player Rob Kohler to premiere the new concert series.
