This is the second CD of the paulistana Fabiana Cozza in which she appears as the new voice of afro-brazilian music. With special participation of one of the major samba divas, Dona Ivone Lara, the boys from Quinteto em Branco e Preto and the talented cubans, Julio Padrón (trompet) and Yaniel Matos (piano). Quando o Céu clarear, title of the CD and name of one of the songs, written by Roque Ferreira, promises to launch the career of this young interpreter that has been gaining sacred territories of Samba. The first record was O Samba é Meu Dom, and both, originally were recorded independently. All the fifteen songs of the album have an afro-brazilian beat that shows the singers devotion to samba and to renamed song writers such as João Bosco/Aldyr Blanc in Nação; Nei Lopes/Nelson Sargento in Pela Sombra; D. Ivone Lara/Jorge Aragão in Tendências and Doces Recordações in which D. Ivone sings with Fabiana Cozza. The songs Xangô te Xinga, Não Sai de Mim and Saudação para Iemanjá (brazilian myth), written by Leandro Medina have a strong presence. An other guest of Fabiana Cozza, Quinteto em Branco e Preto, share the credits on the song Novo Viver, written by two of the members of the group, Magno Souza and Maurílio Oliveira.
With the idea to value the essence and the richness of brazilian music, preserving its roots, but searching for new sounds, her contact with Cuba was essential. She met the trumpet of Julio Padrón and invited him for an original version of Canto de Ossanha (Baden Powell and Vinícius de Moraes) and also the pianist Yaniel Matos for the song Xangô te Xinga. Both are very repected musitions in Cuba. Julio Padrón appears in Wim Wenders DVD, The Sons of Cuba – Buena Vista Next Generation. Quando o céu clarear brings a mature interpreter and definetely places Fabiana Cozza in the afro-brazilian music scene. It’s not by chance that artists such as Chico César, Nei Lopes, Francis Hime, Zimbo Trio, João Bosco and Ivan Lins say that Fabiana is one of the most expressive interpreter from today, comparing her to renamed singers, like Elizeth Cardoso and Clara Nunes. Marcos Paiva is responsible for the direction, production of the CD and the songs. He also appeared in O samba é meu dom, recorded in 2004. With this album Fabiana has been nominated to Best Samba Female Singer and Best New Artist in Tim Awards 2005 and also to the Rival-Petrobrás Award. And, this year (2008), she was nominated again in Tim Awards to Best Samba Female Singer.
In May (2008), Fabiana recorded her first DVD at Auditório Ibirapuera with very special guests such as Maria Rita, Chico César, Rappin’Hood, the guys from Quinteto em Branco e Preto and Yaniel Matos. Nowadays she has been singing with Mantiqueira Band, Leny Andrade, Ceumar, Jazz Symphonic Orchestra and other artists. In december (2008) Fabiana Cozza went to Japan to sing with the great jazzman and saxofonist Sadao Watanabe.
