The Rhythm Future Quartet will present an evening of fast paced acoustic jazz at the North Windham Union Church on Saturday, April 11, starting at 7 p.m.
Rhythm Future Quartet includes Jason Anick on violin, Olli Soikkeli and Vinny Raniolo on guitar and Greg Loughman on bass. Named after a Django Reinhardt tune, the quartet performs dynamic and fiery arrangements of gypsy jazz standards and original compositions that draw from rhythms heard around the world.

Anick and Soikkeli, the front-men and lead soloists of the group, have been receiving critical acclaim this past year and are considered “rising stars” in the world of jazz and gypsy jazz. The Wall Street Journal proclaimed, “Olli Soikkeli, is a riveting Finnish guitarist who combines astonishing dexterity and speed with pure soul in a way that places him among the worthiest current-day successors to the legacy of the great Django.”

Anick, who is also an award winning composer and Berklee College of Music instructor, received critical praise from the Boston Globe, which stated, “Jason’s compositional voice is as distinctive as his virtuoso playing.”

The concert is the 23rd in the Music with a Mission series sponsored by the North Windham Union Church. The church donates a portion of the proceeds to area nonprofits. The first 22 concerts have provided close to $20,000 for mission support to the church and other community organizations.

The Rhythm Future Quartet has chosen to support Windham Neighbors Helping Neighbors with the community proceeds from this concert. The dedicated volunteers at Windham Neighbors Helping Neighbors provide fuel assistance to people in need throughout the community.
