The Clash + Lewis Black

In today's Wall Street Journal, my "Anatomy of a Song" column in the Arena section traces the evolution of The Clash's London Calling in 1979 (go here or please buy the paper). I interviewed all three surviving members of the band and got the story from bassist Paul Simonon about why he smashed his bass [pictured above].
