Smith-Cotton Junior High School hosted three West Central Missouri Music
Educators Association (WCMMEA) District Bands on Jan. 14. More than 750
people listened to two Junior High Honor Concert Bands and the High School
All-District Jazz Band perform.
The two Junior High Honor Concert Bands were
assimilated from recommendation lists provided by 35 West Central District
schools.
High School All-District Jazz Band members played
competitive auditions for their spots in November at the University of Central
Missouri.
Knob Noster students who were part of the 146-member seventh-grade honor band
were Heather Barstow (alto saxophone), Elizabeth Eccleton and Taurus Hawk
(trumpet), Aria Smith (clarinet), Jayden Allen (trombone), and Chase Hagle
(tenor saxophone). This group was under the direction of
conductor/clinician Eric Meurer.
Knob Noster students who were part of the 127-member eighth-grade honor band
were Cole Lankford (trumpet), Kyle Zimmershied (percussion), Natalie Hatmon
(flute), Vincent Mayo (trombone), and Jake Moreland (alto saxophone).
This group was under the direction of clinician/conductor Stacey Larson.
