JAZZ and flamenco guitarist extraordinaire Peter Dickson comes back to Malaysia for another series of gigs that will see him take the stage at two of Kuala Lumpur’s better-known music venues.
Dickson, who was born in Bangalore, India, has always had an affinity for music and moved to the UK when he was about 20 to pursue his dreams.
There, he was introduced to the sounds of flamenco through the guitar work of Paco De Lucia and decided that he would give it a go.
In 1999, Dickson, now based in Australia, launched himself whole-heartedly into a solo career with the release of his first effort —EastWest — which fused Spanish guitar and Indian percussion.
This album, his best-selling one to-date, sold more than 20,000 copies in Australia, Britain, the United States, Japan and India.
Since then, Dickson has been growing from strength-to-strength, touring and wowing audiences all over the world.
Jazz and flamenco fans will definitely be blown away by his deft touch on the strings.
Tonight, Dickson is joined by bassist Andy Peterson, drummer John Thomas, keyboardist Ee-Jang and percussionist Badar Ali. Gambus player Farid Ali is also scheduled to make a special appearance.
On Monday, Dickson plays No Black Tie with the John Thomas trio.
