Beltin’ out the jazz

Athens — Michael Matchael (left), the director of marching bands at Trinity Valley Community College, belts out a little jazz in the college’s cafeteria Tuesday. Matchael joined up with several students and instructors from the college’s music program to present the featured entertainment at Tuesday’s Mardi Gras celebration.


The college’s Academic Education Department has sponsored a year-long study of the effects of Hurricane Katrina on New Orleans, and the Mardi Gras event was part of that cultural project.
