Springfield, IL –This year's Rockballet, featuring live music is a must-see event. The popular
annual production by Springfield Ballet Company is an explosive merging of
ballet, modern, jazz and other dance styles, showcasing the talent and
diversity of our company dancers and some amazing guest artists.
Ticket prices range from $16 to $26
and are available by calling the Sangamon Auditorium ticket office at (217)
206-6160.
Guest choreographers include: Hernan
Justo and Francesca Genovese of Carolina Ballet Theatre, Julie Tice from Paul
Taylor Dance Company, Harrison McEldowney, Krenly Guzman, and Paul Cipponeri;
as well as local choreographers Julie Ratz, Gina DeCroix Russell, Lauren Small
and Elizabeth Cheney.
Music will be provided by Downstate
with band members Damien Kaplan, Mary Kate Smith, David Anderson, Scott
Nichols, Brian Earleywine, Robb Stark and Mike Wallace; with special guests
Brock Bennett, Roy Lowery and Kristen Anderson.
The Springfield Ballet Company is a
civic, not-for-profit ballet company that has been entertaining and educating
area audiences since 1975 and is partially supported by a grant from the
Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.
The company offers two major productions at the
University of Illinois at Springfield's Sangamon Auditorium each year, and also
performs at festivals, schools and nursing homes throughout central
Illinois. SBC is committed to providing equitable opportunities for
company dancers to be trained in and to perform the art of dance.
