APP OF THE DAY: Concert Vault

Concert Vault
Cost: Free | Developer: Wolfgang's Vault | Platform:iPhone, iPod Touch, Android (type Wolfgang's Vault into Android Market), Sonos, Boxee | Version 2.5.2 | 163k

There is so much music available through the app you don't actually need to spend a cent. There's Vault Radio with four channels, endless playlists, browse, artist search. Spend an hour or two with the Grateful Dead at one of their classic 1960s or 1970s shows then for a change of pace switch to The Ramones in 1979 or maybe some BB King, Miles Davis, Genesis, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Van Morrison, Muddy Waters, the Byrds, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, even classic arena rock like Boston. The possibilities are endless. Just sit back, plug in the earphones and stream.

And if your taste runs to emerging music and some of the brilliant artist from the 1990s and 2000s then Wolfgang's Vault has a sister app, Daytrotter, which also offers weeks and weeks of free music.

Wolfgang's Vault is the home of concert music and collectibles. It has more than 100,000 concerts available - many of them free and is focused - even fixated - on the psychedelia, prog, rock, blues, jazz, punk and folk from the 1950s onwards but concentrating on music up to and including the 1980s.
