Dee Dee Bridgewater - To BIllie With Love - A Celebration of Lady Day

Dee Dee Bridgewater - To BIllie With Love - A Celebration of Lady Day

Mon 14th - Fri 18th MarchArguably the best jazz singer of her generation, Dee Dee Bridgewater sang with Roy Ayers and the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis orchestra in the '70s and appeared in the Broadway musical The Wiz. But it was in the late '80s and a series of fantastic albums for the Verve label that she received international acclaim, including a Grammy award-winning celebration of Ella and more recent recordings of French Chanson, Kurt Weill and last year's brilliant 'To Billie With Love', a heart felt celebration of Billie Holiday.

It was after the Billie Holiday show at the Barbican that she became stranded in London due to the volcanic ash cloud and did an impromptu performance at the club. She had such a great time that she vowed to come back! On Monday to Thursday she'll be appearing with her world class band (Craig Handy sax and reeds, Edsel Gomez Rentas piano, Kenny Davis bass and Shaney Forbes drums ) and on Friday in a very special concert recording with the BBC Big Band.
