Landon Knoblock is a creative pianist, an ambitious composer, and an adventurous improviser

Landon Knoblock is a creative pianist, an ambitious composer, and an adventurous improviser. Hailed as “a superb pianist” by Ed Blanco of ejazznews.com, his music is passionate and spontaneous. Landon Knoblock’s trio has been described by Robert De Virtis of www.jazzconvention.net as “three musicians who concentrate on the most essential musical elements, intent and inspired in the creation of a modern music, carefully crafted and direct, and with impressive interplay.” His performances are characterized by the highest level of artistry. The New York Times states that “Landon Knoblock . . .has quietly been making waves for his reflective and lyrical style.”

Originally from Miami, Landon Knoblock is currently based in Brooklyn, New York. He regularly performs in New York’s creative music venues, such as the 55 Bar, Barbes, and the Knitting Factory. His trio has also performed at the Boston Music Festival, SciFi Philly, Twins Jazz in Washington DC, and the Arturo Sandoval Jazz Club in Miami. Internationally, the Landon Knoblock Trio has performed at the Young Jazz in Town Festival and the Art Blakey Jazz Club in Italy. Other notable performances include backing the acclaimed vocalist Kevin Mahogany, working with trumpeter Arturo Sandoval, and opening for the virtuosic Italian pianist Antonello Salis.

Landon Knoblock currently leads a quartet with Ron Horton on trumpet, Ben Allison on bass, and Jeff Davis on drums. His second trio album, “The Heartbeat, The Breath”, has recently been released on CAMjazz. Landon Knoblock’s music is original and organic, and draws the listener into a new realm of connection and experience with art.
