Amélie-Les-Crayons

Early 2003, Amélie had a rather weird idea : she wanted to build up nothing like a "tour de chant" (when you sing songs one after the other on stage with a few blabla and white lighting and that's all) which, according to her, only stresses on the lead vocalist in a star position, but a show : songs sang around a scenery, particular lighting, a costume, characters and pictures. The idea of a piano which opens itself and grows flowers was born at that time. By the end of 2004, all these fantasmagoric propositions had come to life and at the end of the huge tour, there had been 3 versions of the piano travelling by.

It was hard to know at that time that the "Singing of the Red Poppies" show would travel around France, Europe and Canada for 3 years, with 90% of sold out venues. The band would not see weeks and months passing by. the show, which was initially a 1h30 concert ended up being a 2h00 circus-opera-magical event with improvisation, jokes, and unexpected interventions from the audience ! The last show, august 2006, took place in Luxey (near the Atlatntic); by the end of the last song, Amélie decided to throw her costume, pencils and piano flowers to the crowd ! She said she would come back later with a new world to present.

"It has to be magical !" That's Amélie's word before beginning to write down the first songs of the new project. The same words she had spoken in january 2004 when she started thinking of the first show. The magic of the mix between 'chanson' and theatre really are the signature of Amélie's work : songs that are acted, enlightened, made surreal by the universe surrounding them

Amélie became an important figure of the New French Scene after her big hits in the 2 biggest festivals in France : Bourges and Montauban in 2005. From then on, she's been touring all the time, 200 concerts all over France, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada and Finland, summoning crowds of new fans each time, and also praised by the media and professionals : Montauban, Charleroi (Belgium), Montréal, Charles Cros gave her their biggest awards.

Definitely independant, Amélie is walking the path in her own way, with the trust of a solid artistic team. You won't see her on TV, praising the new scent of an air freshener or talking about herself in any showbiz cocktail of some sort but mostly with her family and friends, taking care of her little world. But watch ! If you see her on stage, the metamorphosis only takes a second to operate!
