A Portrait of Peyroux

Rounder Records has announced that it will release jazz chanteuse Madeleine Peyroux’s first DVD, Somethin’ Grand, on November 24. The 142-minute disc will include a full-length concert, five bonus acoustic performances and an hour-long documentary on the singer’s life and career.


The concert, filmed earlier this year in a Los Angeles club, features 17 songs, including several Peyroux wrote for her most recent CD, Bare Bones (Rounder). The documentary portion of the DVD is a revealing film portrait which covers Peyroux’s background and history, from her days playing the streets of Paris to her development as an interpreter of other people’s songs to her emergence as an artist creating new songs from her own experiences.
