Gold Coast Jazz Gala Event “Come to the Copa” to Feature Latin Jazz Artist Ed Callé

You’ll samba and cha-cha the night away to the music of Ed Callé on Friday, January 26, 2017 at 6:30pm at The Venue, 2345 Wilton Drive in Wilton Manors (MAP) as the Gold Coast Jazz Society presents Come to the Copa. The evening will include a reception, silent auction, dinner and an intimate jazz show with the amazing Grammy-award winning artist Dr. Ed Callé  and his Four Latin Knights. The festivities begins at 6:30pm and advance reservations are required.  Reservations for the event begin at $150 per person for reserved seating.  Call the Gold Coast Jazz Society office at 954-524-0805 for reservations and information. 

Event chair persons are Buzz and Cheryl Lamb, Sheila Bechert and Joe Della Ratta.  Other committee members include Sue Astor of PaperMill Media Group and the Board of Directors of the Gold Coast Jazz Society.   
The event’s featured jazz artist, Ed Callé has been dazzling audiences with his bountiful musical gifts for about a quarter of a century. Callé has been heard on thousands of recordings both as a sideman and a soloist, and his resume includes tour dates with some of the biggest names in the business.  He has appeared on numerous Grammy –winning recordings and recently won a Latin Grammy Award for his CD “Mamblue.”

Event sponsors include the Helen Ingham Foundation, The Venue, PaperMill Media Group, and Pompano Discount Liquors.  All proceeds from this event will benefit the programs and activities of the Gold Coast Jazz Society, a non-profit organization.


2018 marks the 26th season of the Gold Coast Jazz Society which was founded in 1992 by Frederick Ruffner and a group of avid jazz buffs from South Florida.  The Society first began presenting concerts at the historic Riverside Hotel, located on the famous Las Olas Boulevard.  The organization’s mission is to perpetuate and advance the cultural form of jazz through performances, education and outreach activities.  GCJS reaches thousands of children each year through programs of jazz education. In school activities and performances and SEAS (Student Enrichment in Arts & Science) performances at the Broward Center introduce students to jazz in a lively and educational format.
