Lakeland Jazz Festival ....

CLEVELAND, Ohio - It's not just the Irish who get lucky this time of year; it's everyone looking for good music.

45th Annual Lakeland Jazz Festival, Friday, March 17, to Sunday, March 19, Wayne L. Rodehorst Performing Arts Center, Lakeland Community College. This is Big Band year for the yearly festival that has, like the Indians' Opening Day, been the harbinger of spring. The Dizzy Gillespie All Stars and Cleveland's own Ernie Krivda All Star Quartet are the big draws.

Here's the schedule: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 17 - Middle and high school performances and judging; 8 p.m. Friday, Ernie Krivda All Star Quartet, $7 for students, $15 for general public; 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 18, middle and high school performances and judging; 4 p.m. Saturday, March 18, free clinic with the entire Dizzy Gillespie All Stars, open to the public; 8 p.m. Saturday, March 18, Dizzy Gillespie All Stars, $15 for students, $30 for the public; 4 p.m. Sunday, March 19, Big Band Matinee, featuring the Lakeland Civic Jazz Orchestra and the Kent State Jazz Orchestra.
