A vocalist, in the American Standard genre, Willie-Mae is equally comfortable singing Jazz, Broadway Show tunes, and Inspirational music. She frequently teams up with noted Musical director and pianist Frank Owens and more recently with Richard A Cummings.  She has also worked with bassists Paul West and Lisle Atkinson; trumpeter Michael Lewis; pianist Ishmael Wallace; drummers Jackie Williams, Greg Bufford, Bernice “Boom Boom” Brooks and the late Earl Williams.

 

Legendary radio and talk show host Joe Franklin said, “Willie-Mae is a fine singer; a great voice and a real lady.” Brazilian pianist and singer Luiz Simas says, “Willie-Mae is a great singer.”  Concert patrons have said, “She tells a story when she sings and you want to see what happens next”, “You’re never bored.  Songs don’t sound the same. She pulls you into the action.”

 

Her major concerts include: “A Sentimental Journey” at Klavierhaus/Parker Meridien,“My Funny Valentine” at the Metropolitan Room in NYC, “Someone to Watch Over Me” at the Metropolitan Room in NYC, “Willie-Mae Sings Harold Arlen”, "Willie-Mae Perry at the Lenox Lounge", "Seasons of Love Live at Saint Peter's Jazz”; a  One-woman show written by her blending drama and song, Loch Lomond and Love Songs, Prynhawn da; for the New York Welsh Women, An Evening with Willie-Mae Perry at Cobi’s Place, Help Japan; Benefit Concert to aid Earthquake and Tsunami victims of Japan, Stand Up to Parkinson’s; Benefit Concert to aid Parkinson's Disease Research, "Six in the City"; with the Cabaret Workshop, and A Night at Dillon’s with ASG.

 

Guest performances include:  Special Musical guest, “The 180th Annual Dinner Dance of the Saint David’s Society of New York 2015, The Yale Club in NYC, “Saul Rubin & Cobi Narita’s 9/11 Remembrance”, "Jazz Center of New York Tribute to Abbey Lincoln", “Celebration of Song; Open House New York”, Episcopal Actors Guild Variety Program at Guild Hall, “ Jazz Center of New York All Star Tribute to Dakota Staton”, 30th Anniversary Gala; Council on Culture and Arts at Flushing Town Hall, “Marian Anderson”;portrayal of the singer in music with FAPC , Manhattan College honoring Blacks in Jazz History, Jamming at numerous Open Mic night spots in New York including the Cotton Club, performances for civic groups, and private engagements.

 

Willie-Mae has also been a member of the New York Metro Mass Choir and the Great Day Chorale under the direction of the late Livonia Pointer.  An aspiring actress, she was the lead character, Elisa, in the play, “What Happened”, a featured character in FAPC Theatre Group productions of “Better than Broadway”, and has presented her talents in monologues and staged readings, the most recent, “Under Milkwood”, a Welsh Radio drama.  She has also performed background work in “Law and Order”, the pilot of “Cashmere Mafia” and the documentary Doku”.
