Banjo maestro Bela Fleck and legendary jazz pianist Chick Corea have announced a fall tour. The duo will hit the road in support of a new live album, Two, which is due on September 11 via Concord Jazz.
The duo first paired up in 2006 to record what would become 2007's The Enchantment, which was supported by multiple years of touring. Two features the tracks recorded during those lengthy tours. “We love to be spontaneous,” said Fleck on his collaboration with Corea. “Playing with Chick is one of the high- water marks in my musical life, and I’m amazed and proud that it came to be.” Corea returned the compliments: “Béla is a continuous fountain of creativity. He always maintains a spirit of inquiry and high-level musical judgment. His work ethic is impeccable. That’s always inspiring to me.”
The tour begins at Santa Fe's Opera House on September 4 and is currently slated to run through a performance at the Carolina Theatre in Durham on October 4. Along the way the pair will cross the country with visits to NYC's Town Hall and the Hollywood Bowl among the stops.
